Joanna's Caringbridge Journal

diaryI was diagnosed with CML in August 2010. I was invited to take part in the Spirit 2 trial and randomised to dasatinib. Initally all went well However, in March 2011, my BCR-ABL levels had started to rise. This could be a blip, or could indicate a problem with the drug and my illness. My consultant, Dr Evely, (based at Bristol Haemotology and oncology hospital) was quickly on the case, consulting with others nationally and testing for a mutation. Subsequently we found that I had the T315i mutation - a mutation resistant to the 1st and 2nd line available drugs. This journal will carry on with the story. I value your comments and feed-back....more

diary21st July 2006: I am officially today 1 year post BMT! Since my last update, I have enjoyed a school trip to Germany which was great fun, apart from the work of course! James has been to Belgium, once again with the school and I don't think he got into any trouble, but I won't say too much yet. The last few days at school have been good, especially yesterday's boarders' trip followed by a barbeque in the evening in South House gardens. Returned home today and realised that I am quite tired. more ...

Aaron Bullingham

diaryWe first found out that Aaron had Leukaemia on 25th April 2003. We noticed that he was extremely tired all the time and had started to have night sweats. Because he had always been such a healthy boy we didn't really think too much about it but decided to take him to the GP anyway. We got him in that same day and the Dr gave him the once over, a full examination. On examination the Dr found that he had some hardness in the spleen area more ...

Diana Lindberg

diaryA story of love and great bravery in the face of overwhelming odds. Di fought CML with strength, dignity and optimism. Her strong religious faith helped her through her transplant which successfully dealt with her CML. The shock of her subsequent diagnosis of an aggressive form of bone Sarcoma was devastating for all that knew and loved her. Di's diary is written with a gererosity of spirit and great humour and will always remain an integral part of this site. Her love for her family gave her the determination to endure what for some of us would be the unendurable. We are grateful to Di's husband Tim for allowing us to continue to share their deeply moving story more ...
