Has anyone in here had a bone marrow transplant?

Hi Vicky,

Yes, I think there are several of us on this forum. Nowadays it is quite rare to transplant for CML but there are people who either do not respond well to TKI therapy in general, or develop resistant clones or who have more complex reasons for preferring transplant if they have the opportunity. In my own case - although I responded well to imatinib for 3 years and even had a molecular response, my disease was quite a way on from chronic phase by the time I got access to imatinib, so eventually it became obvious that I had a small amount of imatinib resistant clones. At the time (early 2003) dasatinib was not yet in clinical trial in the UK and as I had a sibling donor it was decided that my best option was to undergo a reduced intensity conditioning stem cell transplant (RIC SCT). This was a success for me and so I remain in treatment free remission some 13 years later.

I assume your are considering a transplant?
