BCR-ABL increase

Categories:

Am presently on imatinib for about four years now and I did a spine surgery 6 months ago but presently I was supprise to discover that my BCR has gone up from 0.0001 to 5.125 . Am worried and I don’t know what to do. My doctor told me that it might be because I did the BCR test in a different Lab that I should do the test again in my regular Lab.

Yes, your BCR/ABL1 should be retested.  Does your lab report the result in the International Scale (IS%)?

Honestly I don’t know but I would ask. My full blood count is normal only the wbc is a little higher 7.3 but still within normal range. Am dead scared .

It will be interesting to see what the result is at your usual lab.  Hopefully it's just a fluke and your next test will be back to normal.

Do you usually get a copy of your BCR/ABL1 report?  If you do, it should say on it if they are reporting your result after conversion to I.S.%.
